She spent her pre-elementary years, together with her older brother PaaKow, living with their grandparents at Ringway Estates when their parents traveled abroad.
Ewurafua would cry at every turn. Perhaps it was her way of returning the love she received.
It was during those days that she earned her nicknames, “Ewurafua Kakraba” and “Babylet”, among close family members.
“Her athleticism was certainly developed as she and her cousin Jennifer would scale walls, dash up a flight of stairs to be in the bathroom to shower, at the sight of her mum from a distance coming home from work.
”
Ewurafua had the benefit of great formal education in Ghana
She spent seven years of elementary life at North Ridge Lyceum, five years in Wesley Girls High School for her O’Levels, and two years at Aburi Girls for her A’ Levels. She went on to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences (Sociology & French) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology. As part of her studies in KNUST, she spent a year living and studying in Benin.
Ewurafua had an active extracurricular life during her school days. She participated in dancing at secondary school events, and was a member of the school hockey team at Wesley Girls High School. She made some of her lifelong friendships in school including the “3 Musketeers” (Evelyn, Ewurafua & Frances) at Aburi Girls.
3 Musketeers
Ewurafua throughout her teen and young adult life expressed her gift and love for fashion and beauty. She contemplated pursuing an education and a career in fashion and beauty.
In the University, she was an active member of campus Christian associations and became known for her love of music and song ministry. Her room in the University was home to fun and gathering of the “faithfuls”. As her roommates (Josephine, Jennifer & Wilma) and Jackie (“nonresident roommate”) will recall, she was prayerful, loved singing & dancing, cooking for friends, being the arbiter and proceeding to give you a nickname.
